Adventure Comics had become an over-sized anthology series by 1972, and #418 features four different superhero stories: Supergirl in “The Face of the Dragon” by Len Wein, Jose Delbo & Bob Oksner; The Phantom Stranger in “Death’s Strange Deputy” by John Broome, Carmine Infantino & Bernard Sachs; Black Canary in “Circle Of Doom” by Denny O’Neil & Alex Toth; and a previously “lost” Golden Age story featuring Dr. Mid-Nite (writer & artist unknown, inked by Sal Amendola)
