Synopsis: The conclusion of Rise of the Descendants is here, and the fate of a species is in Hawkeye’s hands.

Good: I’m really sad to see Remender’s run on Secret Avengers end as I love what he has done with the book. This is also his last issue writing for the character Flash Thompson. What he also managed to with Venom was honestly incredible and Flash really surprised me as a host for the symbiote, but enough about Venom though, I don’t want to sound like too much of a fanboy.

The highlight for this series has always been the writing and it continues to stay strong and deliver an excellent conclusion. I was really happy to see how Black Ant developed as he turned out to be a really interesting villain. His fight with Flash was really well done. Overall this was an action packed book that delivered with great fighting and even better story. I loved watching Hawkeye desperately trying to decide if he should destroy the orb and save all humans but at the same time wipe out all the descendants. It was an interesting dilemma that was made even more interesting because Hawkeye was being converted into a Descendant while he was trying to decide if he could destroy the orb. As always, the art continued to be great and was a real benefit for this book. Having the same artist for each issue insures it retains a similar style throughout the run. I’ve always enjoyed this style with the book because the dark tone of the art always went perfectly with the story.

Bad: Remender is done with the book now. Seriously. I didn’t have any real issues with the book except maybe the fights could have been a little longer, though they did continue from the last book so it didn’t cause a serious issue. Overall the overall physical fights and character drama worked really well and led toward a solid ending.

Overall: Remender definitely created an amazing run with Secret Avengers; making Hawkeye the new leader and bringing Venom onto the team are two decisions that definitely made me excited. I’m curious how the Marvel Now! version of Secret Avengers will turn out. One thing is for sure I’m definitely going to miss Remender’s run on this book!

Rating: 4.5/5
