Mike-EL, PunisherMAX and Tim tell you why!

Another year, another masterpiece by Grant Morrison & Frank Quitely. Just when we thought comic books had reached an artistic stand still (re: Spider-Man & The X-men is actually a thing at Marvel now), along come Morrison & Quitely to turn things on their head (again). Playing off of Alan Moore & Dave Gibbon’s Watchmen, Multiversity: Pax Americana twists the Charlton superheroes around into multiple earth dopplegangers recalling their Watchmen cousins. Thus, we are given what Before Watchmen could have been, without committing sacrilege and alienating the Original Writer (and you know who that is).

Blue Beetle, Question, Captain Atom, Nighshade, Peacemaker, and Peter Cannon (sort of) stand in for Nite Owl, Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, Comedian and Ozymandias, and we’re treated to a detective story successor to Watchmen, all in the short space of a single monthly comic.

To say more is a pointless exercise in verbal hyperbole where none is needed. Just gaze upon the images in this video, and you’ll have proof enough that this comic is absolutely essential reading.

So, here it is: the best single comic book of 2014.
