Border City Comics celebrates 30 years!

The oldest comic shop in Windsor hits the big 3-0!

When Border City Comics opened up in the summer of 1987, Watchmen was coming to a close, Peter Parker was marrying Mary Jane, and Toy Tie-ins were all the rage. The DC superheroes had just been revamped the year before, and Marvel’s heroes were almost unrecognizable (Spider-Man wore black, Captain America wore…black, The Hulk was grey, and there was a new Fantastic Four).

In the same year that a young Mike-EL began passionately collecting superhero comics, Ken & Pat Girard opened a new comics shop in Windsor — and the world would never be the same!

Check out these photos from Border City’s 30th Anniversary Sale and some comic book covers from 1987, a landmark year in comic publishing.

If you’re ever in Windsor, feel free to drop in, and tell them the Syndicate sent you!
