Synopsis: The origin of Hyperion and the mystery of the garden beings to unfold.
Good: It was interesting to read and learn more about Hyperion but I felt it was causing issues with the current storyline (See ‘Bad’). The art was okay but not the greatest in my opinion but characters were detailed and looked good and the costumes were also a highlight for this book yet again. Spider-Woman’s costume looked perfect and characters like Thor looked really great also. Continuing with the ‘Good’, it’s always wonderful to watch black tentacle’s attack agents of A.I.M. as well; it was a really nice touch seeing how Thor and Hyperion work together to take out the tentacles. I’ll admit that even though I didn’t enjoy the writing in this book that much I am still interested to see what happens in the next issue
Bad: I felt that the Hyperion story-line caused issues for the writing because it kept going back and forth, it caused problems with the flow of the story in my opinion. Also, the dialogue wasn’t the greatest with the conversation between Thor and Hyperion coming to mind. At times it felt a little …immature, I believe that would be the best way to describe it. Characters like Black Widow talking about how the situation they were in felt like a horror movie or Thor saying that his alcohol is ‘like vodka, but for men’. I found the writing to be a step down compared to the last issue. It almost felt like a different book and the connection between this and the previous issue itself wasn’t strong.
Overall: In the end I really didn’t enjoy this issue as much as the last one. It had some good points but overall the story was average and didn’t really connect that well with the previous issue. At points it felt like I was reading a different book almost. I’m still interested to see what happens next though and hopefully the quality of the next issue sees a return in quality like that of issue 3.
