12 Days of Christmas – #12 KILL SHAKESPEARE

Posted on 13 December 2012 by GI Jolie

12 Days of comic book recommendations and favourites start here!

On each of the 12 days of Christmas leading up to the big day, The Comic Book Syndicate (that’s Danny, J’orge, Mike-EL, and GI Jolie) will be giving you their picks for the season! The GREAT thing about all of these fine sequential suggestions is that you can pick them up in trade at your LCS (local comic shop) or favourite bookstore! Can’t make it to the store or prefer to do all your holiday shopping at home? We’ve also given you links to each book on Amazon.com!

So without further ado, let’s get on with it shall we? #12 …

Co-produced by Conor McCreery and
Anthony Del Col
Art by Andrew Belanger
Colours by Ian Herring
Covers by Kagan Mcleod
Published by IDW

In the first volume, all (well some) of Shakespeare’s most beloved and colourful characters jump to life from the pages. Main character Hamlet journeys off on a quest to find the infamous Shakespeare and runs into MANY familiar faces like Juliet, Othello, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, and those three ‘weird sisters’ from Macbeth, just to name a few!

One of the greatest things about this book is that you don’t need to worry if you didn’t like Shakespeare when they forced you to read it in highschool. This book is all action and adventure …and less iambic pentameter and ruffly doublets.

As comic book geeks we would be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the other goodies this book has to offer. Besides collecting the first –STELLAR, six issue, the book includes an introduction written by Darwyn Cooke AND a bonus back story illustrated by J. Bone! Not to mention it includes ALL kinds of covers and art by Marvin Law, Ian Herring, Andy Belanger, Kagan Mcleod!

Still sceptical? UPDATE This title is now so prolific they’ve even produced a stage play and will be introducing new interactive media for fans of the series which, by the way will be making a return in the New Year! But don’t take our complete word for it, you should really just READ for youself. After all how can you know exactly what we are talking about if you haven’t read the book, right? The first volume is still available to purchase, and if you’re lucky enough to run into Conor or Anthony (or Andy and Kagan) at a comic book convention you can pick up a copy of it at their table!

So get ready for death, romance, SWASHBUCKLING, cross-dressing, and just a little bit of vegetable harvesting!
